Gas Line Services

Question 1

Appliance hookups

Accepted Answer

Ranges, ovens, dryers and outdoor grills all need a gas line and a proper connection. We make it, test it, and make sure the appliance actually runs before we leave.

Question 2

New gas lines

Accepted Answer

Most leaks come down to a single bad stretch of pipe. We swap that stretch out and patch up behind us, instead of talking you into replacing everything.

Question 3

Gas line repairs

Accepted Answer

Old pipe corrodes, joints loosen, and connections that were fine for years stop being fine. We find the fault, fix it, and test the line before it goes back into service.

Question 4

Moving a line for a remodel

Accepted Answer

Kitchens shift, walls come out, and the gas stub ends up in the wrong place. We relocate it so your new layout works instead of being designed around an old pipe.

Question 5

I can smell gas. What now?

Accepted Answer

Get everyone out of the house and call BGE or 911 from outside. Leave the lights and appliances alone on your way out. Once the gas is shut off and it's safe to be inside, that's when we come in and repair it.

Question 6

Why can't my regular plumber run a gas line?

Accepted Answer

Gas fitting is licensed separately from plumbing in Maryland, and plenty of plumbing outfits don't hold it — they bring in a specialist. Ours gas license is held in house.

Question 7

Does a new line in Columbia, MD need a permit?

Accepted Answer

New gas piping generally does, and an inspection goes with it. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspection with you.

Question 8

Can I get gas out to the patio for a grill?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that's one of the more common jobs we do. It means running a line from where the gas already is out to where you want it, sized correctly for the grill, with a shutoff at the end.

Question 9

What does gas line service cost?

Accepted Answer

That depends on how far the pipe has to travel and what it has to get through along the way. You'll have the number before anybody starts, and it won't change afterwards without you agreeing to it first. We're pleased to schedule with you or offer a free online estimate when you submit photos of the job.

Question 10

How quickly can a technician service my gas line?

Accepted Answer

Call us, and we will let you know what the schedule looks like. A live leak is treated differently from a grill line, so be sure to mention the specifics of your situation.

Question 11

Do you warranty your gas line work?

Accepted Answer

We offer a one year warranty on our workmanship and on the materials we supply, same as every other job we do.

Question 12

Which towns do you cover?

Accepted Answer

Ehrhardt offers gas line service in Columbia and the rest of Howard County — Ellicott City, Elkridge, Laurel, Clarksville, Jessup, Savage and Fulton.
